Long gone are the days of driving

from shop to shop, wasting precious time and petrol just to find that one particular item you've been searching for in the

size you need. In this case, we're referring to shoes.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16907494.post-24132863900805149492007-02-08T12:35:00.000-08:002007-02-08T12:35:00.000-08:00I don't know. I've seen my ISP useage statistics say I've been pulling something like 100mb per hour using SL.

That's one avatar flying/teleporting round a big grid. I don't know what it would be for a bunch of avatars looking at one server. I'd hope it's affordable, in any case :)Ace Albionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00095151790625900090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16907494.post-3585134552271415932007-02-08T09:44:00.000-08:002007-02-08T09:44:00.000-08:00I dunno, Ace, do we know what the actual costs are...I dunno, Ace, do we know what the actual costs are for running a sim, or 4 sims on a single 'server instance'?

I think the cost might be a lot less than we think.

Shoutcast used to scare the hell outta people. You can put shoutcast on your own server or hook up with someone like serverroom.us which isn't entirely painful.

I'd like to see it measured and load tested. I've had the same concerns, but it has to be less than I pay now, I'm guessing.Spin Martinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07866860257554276107noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16907494.post-71513317679880585152007-02-08T03:15:00.000-08:002007-02-08T03:15:00.000-08:00I seriously doubt I could afford the bandwidth bil...I seriously doubt I could afford the bandwidth bill for an SL server outside of the current grid.Ace Albionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00095151790625900090noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16907494.post-58443122837882154292007-02-06T09:11:00.000-08:002007-02-06T09:11:00.000-08:00You caught me on a comment-frenzy day...
This is ...You caught me on a comment-frenzy day...

This is actually a fantastically useful way of looking at it. While I've always understood the technology behind what was going on, the comparisons you draw really help in trying to project the future. I can see web hosting companies offering private-sim packages already, and indy private-sim owners building web pages to advertize mainland sim sales.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-16907494.post-58207132243006627462007-02-06T06:38:00.000-08:002007-02-06T06:38:00.000-08:00I was pushing around something similar the other d...I was pushing around something similar the other day. Here.Storm Thundershttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11658410364302871136noreply@blogger.com
